Life is Strange Surprises With Beautiful Trailer

on

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 1,000 times. I want new games from Square Enix, especially outside their Final Fantasy comfort zone (though I should say, Final Fantasy XV is looking damn good, and Murdered: Soul Suspect wasn’t the worst thing ever). That’s why I was so surprised, and even delighted to see the reveal for their new game, Life is Strange: an episodic adventure game based around going home. Perhaps that’s why the critic quotes at the beginning are so ready to compare it to Gone Home mixed with other games.

This trailer honestly looks like something I would expect from an indie movie, not a full fledged videogame produced by one of the biggest names in the business. If I could describe the trailer in only a few words, I would probably call it “tasteful, artful, and different.” It’s the sort of title I’ve been wanting to see of a while, and I have to say: It’s definitely one I intend to keep on my radar going forward.

The game is currently being developed by Dontnod Entertainment, the French developers behind Remember MeLife is Strange is currently slated for “early 2015”, so we will see what comes of it.
