It’s Happening!! Grand Theft Auto V Heists Get a Trailer!

After more than a year of waiting, we’re finally hearing a lot more about the Grand Theft Auto V heists! I can’t stress enough how long I’ve been waiting to hear about this. I have strictly refused to purchase the updated HD version of the game until the heists gameplay mode was released, and now it looks like I may end up shelling the money out.

They’re on their way!!

This is really the first we’ve seen of multiplayer heists, and it looks like there are some pretty damn cool scenarios including stealing jets from an aircraft carrier. I also couldn’t help but notice Lester’s line, “I know you’ve been complaining, but you weren’t ready.” Really, Rockstar? My body’s been ready since November 2013. Just give us the heists already, damn it! Information about the heists was revealed mostly to IGN, and you can read up all the details in their interview with the GTA Online producer and lead mission designer, Imran Sarwar. The gist of it is that “every player needs to feel central to the action at all times, and that’s much more challenging than it appears.”

According to the interview, the heists will require 4 players all rank 12 or above, with one player acting as the heist leader who needs to own a high end apartment. There will be prep missions for the heists, and non-leader players will get payouts after each prep mission, while the leader will have to wait until the heist is over to get their cash. Further, the leader will have to be the one to front the money for the mission’s costs, etc. In total, there will be 5 unique heists totaling more than 20 missions, which according to Imran will add up to a total of 20 hours of gameplay.

All I can say is it’s about damn time! The Grand Theft Auto V heists will probably convince me to purchase the PC version which releases January 27 of next year. Of course, we don’t know exactly when the heists are coming out except for the ever-illusive “early 2015” which is a refrain I’ve heard before. Please, Rockstar, don’t hurt me again.
