Microsoft and Best Buy’s Console Holiday Discounts

If you were planning on picking up a new console as a last-minute Christmas gift, now’s the best time to grab one. Microsoft is selling Xbox One consoles for $50 cheaper – and Best Buy is including a gift card to sweeten the deal.

“Fans don’t have to wait for Black Friday this year to enjoy great savings on Xbox One. We’re offering our best price yet, with unprecedented choices and value, so more people can play on Xbox One this holiday,” said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of Microsoft. “We’re gearing up for one of our biggest holidays ever and we are thrilled to offer fans up to $150 in savings on Xbox One and some of the biggest blockbuster games of the season.”

On Nov. 2, Microsoft announced that any customers who purchased an Xbox One console or bundle would get $50 off until Jan. 3. The available bundles include Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Sunset Overdrive, with prices ranging from $349 to $449.

“We want this to be an unforgettable holiday season for Xbox fans around the world,” said Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox. “Only on Xbox One can you play some of the most anticipated exclusives, newest blockbuster franchises and innovative independent games of the year. We’re pleased to start the season off early with an incredible portfolio that includes millions of hours of fun for gamers and their friends.”

In addition to Microsoft’s holiday discount, Best Buy offers its customers an additional gift to go with their new console. Buying an Xbox One console automatically adds a free $50 gift card to the order, along with $50 off the purchase of the console itself. You’ll also get free shipping if you order from Best Buy’s online store.

To make this less of an Xbox party, Playstation gamers get a Christmas present of their own. Best Buy is currently discounting the Destiny bundle from $449 to $399, although this deal runs from now until Dec. 27.

Needless to say, it’s a pretty good week to start shopping for that console you were saving up for. Take advantage of these holiday discounts as soon as  you can.
