Proof We NEED a Mega Man Film!

on

Let’s be honest, I am a HUGE fan of fan films, and I’m all about sharing good videos whenever I see them. Recently, I stumbled upon this dark and gritty Mega Man video, and holy crap it’s kind of amazing! The setting and the visuals look stunning, and it’s kind of a great homage to other “dark and gritty” reboots. And then there’s the end! Oh man, I don’t want to spoil it, so I won’t, but I will just say this: we need more of that. I want to see it escalate into a full on brawl… or possibly even a melee!

Granted, it’s a little bit of a struggle to call this a true fan film. It was produced by Loot Crate, so it’s obviously for promotional purposes. Then again, other than their name as producers and the fact that the video is on their channel, it’s not like they pushed their product too hard. They aren’t, for example, telling us to “Remember to drink your Ovaltine”. It also looks like it had a suitably low enough budget that I’m pretty okay calling this a “fan film”. There’s just enough mix of camp with real creative fun to show that the people who made this video really did actually care about the game.

And yes, I know: This was only a scene, just something to tease and laugh over… but did you know there is an ACTUAL Mega Man film that’s full length. It’s of course a fan creation, and you can take from that what you will (occasionally wooden acting, super low budget, etc.) but it’s actually pretty freakin’ sweet. I like it better than any of the Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat live action films that made it to theaters.
