Zelda Has It Backwards

With The Legend of Zelda being more than 25 years old, it was only a matter of time before they started hiding incredible easter eggs and throwbacks to the past. Today’s trailer is certainly no exception.

The Legend of zelda: A Link Between Worlds is coming out, and Nintendo is of course releasing plenty of interesting trailers. Of note, however, is one of the most recent trailers. The theme song in the trailer might seem a little familiar to fans of the classic SNES game, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. If you don’t immediately hear it, it’s okay. It will all make sense soon.

Pretty interesting gameplay trailer, though to be honest it’s pretty standard stuff, right? Well just wait until you hear it backwards. One intrepid YouTube channel uncovered a rather interesting mystery.

The mystery is uncovered at about 0:40 in the video above. Yes, it’s the Hyrule Castle Theme from A Link to the Past! See below for the original to compare.

This isn’t the first time Ninendo has pulled this stunt, however. A few of you may remember that in Skyward Sword, the main theme is actually Zelda’s Lullabye backwards. If Nintendo keeps this up, I’m just going to have to start playing my Zelda games backwards Led Zeppelin style. Will I hear messages telling me to remember to drink my ovaltine? Who knows?
