Want To Trade In Those Downloaded Games?

on

By: Stephen Crane

Have you ever been at an impasse when deciding how to obtain your PC games? On one hand, downloading your game through digital services like Steam allows you to install and play the game without ever leaving your home. On the other hand, you don't have that physical copy which you can then bring back to the store and trade in for a little extra money. What if you get tired of the game you just purchased and downloaded? It can be pretty hard to get money back on a 'used' downloaded file. (Photo: couresty Flickr user avlxyz)

One UK based company has spent the past year trying to get us to re-evaluate how we look at that system of valuation. Green Man Gaming is a digital retail platform that allows its users to buy and trade in PC games for new purchases and store credit.

For such a young company it already has some pretty large publishers backing it up including SEGA, Ubisoft, Square Enix and more! You can buy and trade in plenty major titles through the year and save some money to allow you to play more throughout the year.

Another interesting concept used by Green Man Gaming is a true supply and demand based trade-in system. If the company doesn't have any pre-owned copies available, then the price and the trade in value will be higher. If they have pre-owned copies available then the price of the game and the trade in value will be lower. This means you can essentially become a video game speculator and buy games when the price is low then trade them in when the price is higher. You most likely won't be able to make money off speculating, but it's a really simple way to maximize your investment.

To get everyone started and to celebrate their first year of business, Green Man Gaming is offering a free download to NecroVisioN: Lost Company which you can also trade in when you are done with it. The promo code for the free copy is GMGY1-PROMO-TREAT. It is only going to last until May 25th so make sure to take advantage of it soon if you're interested!
