It’s Official: We’re Playing With High Art

By: Stephen Crane

Well it's finally happened. Video games have been recognized as the artistic artform some of us have been trying to say they are. While it's true there havebeen some art installations involving video games or video game-like art, the games themselves were never recognized as high art the way other forms of media like radio and television are. Fortunately that's all changed. The NEA is finally willing to call the actual games themselves a form of art. This definitely means a lot for legitimizing video games as an industry and is a very welcome recognition. (Photo: Courtesy Flickr user p*p)
